To act or not to act?.. When? How? Why?.. Those are the questions...
In the
play, the character of Hamlet can be seen as someone who made a very quick decision
on avenging his father’s death, but struggles too much on acting. Why does he take
too much time to act? Why does he need to see so many things happen before
doing what he decided to do? I bet you know because you have been there.
You may
think I am saying too much, but it is true. Despite Hamlet being determined to avenge
his father , the fact all the evidence he gathered comes from what a ghost has
told him, is what makes him have second thoughts on whether to act or not. Before
making justice by his own hands, Hamlet has the need to prove that what he
knows is true, otherwise he will not succeed, he will be called a liar, a fool, and
a traitor. Think of yourself, when you have heard something that bothers you,
have not you waited to obtain more evidences before taking actions?
If our best friend's pride has been destroyed we do our best, support and, if it is necessary, fight. Avenging a father's death is not a common thing. Hamlet needs to act not only in favor of his pride and convictions, but also in favor of his father. He needs to be careful, be sure that what he does has a meaning, be sure that after doing what he is intended to do he will feel in peace with his father and himself.

Hamlet is
nothing but the representation of the many and common problems, difficulties and hesitations that not only ordinary
people, but also rich and privileged people, have to face day by day. No one is
free.
