What about King Lear?

King Lear is a story that reminds me of two things. The 1st one is that being a parent is hard, to rise another human being, I think, is the most difficult thing that you can do and will do, for those who want to be parents. The other one is a biblical story about a father who cast away one of his sons, I don´t remember the reason exactly but the fact that a son or daughter is casted it´s something painful for both sides.

Now, as I have mention in other occasion, I´m not a very good reader, so I very much prefer having someone explaining to me what happens in the story, and this time, as a fan of the Marvel´s movies, the fantastic character "Magneto", Mr. Ian Mckellen, is the one that is going to do it.

Enjoy...

  1. Yes Pilar, it is difficult to raise a little human being but at the same time is the most beautiful and rewarding process. You'll see when you become a mother!. What I cannot agree with is giving the best to the one who shows that loves you the most. I think we love all our children equally so we will want the best for each of them (I'm pretending having more than one) and we know the love is mutual, what's the point of measuring love?

  2. Hi Pilar,
I think that King Lear shows us the complexity of the concept "family". It mus be very difficult to raise children and be successful because there are so many things that can go bad. Although King Lear sets an extreme example, there is something that is true, love is complex and, therefore, complicated. We can see how things go bad in the royal family and how sometimes when people expect things from others and they don't get what they expect (Reciprocal love, for instance).
I really liked the video by the way! I think Ian McKellen is a great actor.

    Cheers!
